Wallingford Public Library's blog

Holiday Closing

The Library will close at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, November 26 and will remain closed on Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28 in observance of Thanksgiving. Regular hours resume Saturday, November 29.

Local Author Karen E. Olson To Speak

Unlike her fictional police reporter Annie Seymour, Karen E. Olson never found a body in her trunk or had to swim for her life across New Haven Harbor. A former reporter herself, Ms. Olson was born and raised in New Haven. Sacred Cows, her first novel in the Annie Seymour series, received the Mysterious Press Sara Ann Freed Memorial Award for a debut mystery novel. Currently a North Haven resident, Ms. Olson features a different area of New Haven in each of her books.

Join us on Thursday, November 13th at 7:00 pm for a lively presentation by Karen E. Olson. Shot Girl, her latest book, will be available for purchase and signing.

Holiday Closing

The Library will be closed on Tuesday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day. Regular hours resume on Wednesday, November 12.

We Love You, Too

"Are libraries facing the same fate as video stores, hard copy newspapers and the big thick phonebook?" asked WTNH News Channel 8 on their blog. Imagine our joy when we discovered that numerous respondents used Wallingford Public Library as an example of the value of libraries as a whole.

"Come and see Wallingford's very recent library expansion - beautiful!"

"The Wallingford Library is so amazing that I swear I could live there."

"My little one loves getting books and reading them under the tree in the children's area. It would be a shame to lose any library and I am very glad that Wallingford chose to expand ours."

Thank you for being the best library patrons in the world.

Time To Dance

We will be having a Wii Dance Dance Revolution Tournament at the Main Library on Wednesday, November 12th at 6:00 p.m. All teens are welcome to come strut your stuff and possibly win a prize! Space is limited, so register early, either in person, online, or by phone at (203)265-6754. Be sure to wear your dancing socks!

Daylight Savings Time: Remember To Fall Back

This year, Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 2. Don't forget to change your clocks before you go to bed on Saturday, November 1st! This is a good time to change the batteries in all your smoke detectors, and make sure the carbon monoxide detectors are working, too.
