Upcycling 101

By Wallingford Pub... - Posted on 11 April 2017

Thursday, April 27th at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room
Tim Sway
Local maker Tim Sway will introduce you to the mindset and methods of upcycling. You will see and learn about his creations from reclaimed materials and have the opportunity to brainstorm how to use discarded items in new ways. Adults and teens welcome.

Tim Sway makes “worthless things priceless” by creating one-of-a-kind furniture, musical instruments and more from things that have been thrown away. The trendier term is “reclaimed” or “upcycled” materials. Tim brings awareness to wastefulness and excessive consumerism while encouraging others to live local, Earth-friendly lives. He has a podcast and YouTube channel where he spreads the message and also encourages people to try making things on their own. He was a principal on FYI Networks’s television show “Trashformers” and worked extensively as a touring and performing musician. He lives in Wallingford and “Tim Sway Perspectives World Headquarters” is located in an old chicken barn in Meriden.

This program is sponsored by Jean Anderson in memory of a lifelong upcycler, Alan McIlveen.
