Recently, the Town of Wallingford's Planning and Zoning Commission passed a zoning amendment to permit beekeeping as an accessory use of residential land.

Beekeeping is a fascinating hobby, a profitable sideline, and an activity the whole family can participate in. You may want to keep bees for the delicious honey they produce, for the benefits of pollination, or just to learn about nature’s most written about insect. Come hear from Connecticut’s State Bee Inspector Mark Creighton about how honey bees directly affect the vitality of our agricultural industry, responsible for 33% of the food we eat. Experience the marvel of these social insects and learn why these insects are threatened by extinction. Bee-ginner’s beekeeping will teach you the basics about how to start a beehive in your backyard. Come catch the bug, you will not regret it!
